Thanks for sharing such a personal story. It helps give a pretty visceral sense of the state of attitudes towards women and healthcare’s treatment of women.

Although China is different in a lot of ways, it’s the same kind of attitudes and trends from traditional culture clashing with modern society as we see in Japan, Korea, etc… with similar results in plummeting fertility rates.

I think China’s birthrate will go up if Xitler and experts such as Liar Fuxian Yi, Jianzhang Liang, Guangzhou Wang, Yafu He, Zhizhu Yang and Zeping Ren, who shaped Xitler's population policy and all of them are men, would make wishes publicly that they sincerely wish to be reincarnated as women and mothers in their next lives.

Why not take a try? It might be proved to be the only effective way to boost birth rate...even if people know all of them are accustomed to tell lies.

Just to make a little calculatuons. A normal face-washing basin could hold about 10 liter liquid, that's 10000 ml, while every kg of human body could contain 70-80 ml blood. So a person weighing 100 kg may contain 7000-8000 ml blood, which could easily hold in one basin. If your mother could lost "several basins' worth of blood", she must have been a woman with a weight of more than 200kg. Wow, that's really big for a Chinese woman.

Diabolical to fact check someone’s mom’s trauma based on your perception of basin sizes

I’m sure you have better things to do

Was this calculation really necessary? Is that all that you were able to pick up from her article?

I don't know Mandarin well enough but everything I have read from the translated ethnography is somewhat horrifying. I have seen this negative mood about the future of the society, your children, and hardship only during notes I read from our Eastern European 90s, and these people were living in the collapsing economy and society.

Not only from females but females have especially a lot of it. It's somewhat hard to conceptualize. Maybe it was so horrifying back then too but just no one cared?
